Samadhi statue is considered one of the best sculpture in the Anuradhapura era. It is made out of DOLOMITE MARBLE and stands 7 feet 3 inches in height, seat under a Bo tree. The statue was founded in 1886 ,with the nose damage. It was then erected and the nose was reconstructed in 1914. The veracity of this is in question as the eyes are closed with no place for jewels. The canopy over the statue was constructed in 1959 to 1960.

To the majority of people the most familiar bit of Ceylon's charming coast is Mount Lavinia. In blunt sailor language this just of land which overhangs the sea 6 miles South of Colombo, was named the pregnant wench betokening what is took like from the deck of a ship. It was described as such in charts of the early 18 century. The building on the palm shaded promontory once used as a Rest House, today the Mount Lavinia Hotel originated as the country residence of a British Governor.
